From China to the US, from a violin maker to a furniture designer, from a concept of blurry images to a piece of best-selling of furniture… It has been a long journey.
I first came to the US in 2000 to participate in a violin making competition, not knowing it would eventually lead to the end of my career as a violin maker. Not that I felt making violins was not an interesting thing to do, but the limited scope for creativity did not really jive with my personality. With the support of my brother and family, I decided to restart myself in furniture design. Four years of study at Kendall College of Art & Design not only taught me the foundation of design but also opened my eyes to new possibilities. Experiences gathered through working at Universal Furniture, HTK Design, and Fairmont Designs, combined with numerous field trips to Asian manufactories, led me finally in 2016 to launch my own design studio, C. Yanxin Designs LLC, dedicating to the home furnishing industry in all settings and styles.
Life is full of surprises, but home is where we always go back to at the end of every day. While decorating our home, we are also cultivating our lives. When a piece of furniture or everyday object not only communicates through the eyes but also resonates with our feelings, that is good design.

“The details are not details, they make the product, just as details make the architecture — the gauge of the wire, the selection of the wood, the finish of the castings — connections, the connections, the connections.” Charles Eames
